EXTERIOR-Although the car was painted a few years back, the factory FE5 Bright Red is mirror gloss finish. There are a few flaws in the paint from age and road use, but overall in excellent condition. ALL STEEL ORIGINAL PANELS. The body panels are original to the car; the body is straight and rust free. Exterior was stripped and repainted. Finish in engine bay and trunk is still original. White factory Strobe Stripes. Mopar road wheels. P235/70R15 radial tires. Factory hood pins. All chrome and stainless in excellent condition. Grille in excellent condition. Still badged as a 383, makes it a sleeper. Very good glass.
DRIVETRAIN: The awesome Road Runner was ordered from the factory as a no frills street machine- manual heavy duty 10" brakes and manual steering.This car came from the factory with a 383 HP motor. It has been replaced with a 1971 440 HP motor correctly date coded January 6. Engine was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago. Engine is all Mopar factory correct. Correct air cleaner. Factory AVS carb and Mopar intake. Stock exhaust manifolds. Engine bay still in orignal factory paint. Engine and engine bay in excellent detailed condition. I don't believe the fender tag has ever been taken off the car. All original decals still under the hood, although they show some wear. Mopar factory hoses, and clamps. Original radiator. Original hood insulation and front hood dust seal. 727A Torque Flite rebuilt about 400 miles ago. Complete rebuild including new or rebuilt seals, gaskets, clutch plates, steels and bands, governor, valve body and pump. 3.54 Sure Grip differential. Original floors are solid as a rock. Frame rails, suspension, gas tank, etc all clean.
INTERIOR: Black vinyl interior in excellent shape. This beauty came from the factory with a bench seat. The whole interior was swapped out for a black vinyl bucket interior from another Road Runner. Seats and seat covers in excellent shape. The caps of 2 buttons are missing on the driver's seat-very minor, replacable. Carpet is new. Door panels in excellent condition. Original dash pad in excellent condition- one tiny crack by the speaker. All guage faces are crystal clear-all guages work. Factory AM Music Master radio-not working, but I'm tinkering with it. All seals, gaskets, weatherstripping is new. Woodgrain in excellent shape.Remote mirror. Original full set of seat belts, including shoulder harnesses. Factory sport wheel. New package shelf. Everything is functional- interior light, guages, horn, lights, signals, heater fan, "beep beep" horn, even the key buzzer still buzzes!
TRUNK: Original trunk pan is solid as a rock and rust free. Still has the original factory paint. Inner quarter panels flawless and solid. Original factory coating still present. Complete jack assembly. Radial spare tire with matching Road Wheel. Finish under trunk lid same quality as the exterior of the car.
This ground pounder is fully capable of winning a trophy at your average outdoor show. Runs and drives like it looks.
